From Fox News Latino quoted us from our statement “National Pro-Immigration GOP Group: Time to Make Lemonade from Lemons”
Latino Republican organizations expressed frustration over the defeat of Romney, as well as over what they said were concerns about the continuing alienation between Republicans and Latinos.
“When Newt dropped out of the race and Mitt Romney became the nominee, we decided to support Mitt Romney,” said a statement by Café Con Leche, a Republican organization that favors comprehensive immigration reform. “Numerous attempts to connect with the Romney campaign’s Hispanic outreach proved fruitless. In our one year of existence, we’ve also had just one conversation with the RNC’s Latino outreach, and were left with the impression the RNC wasn’t interested in working with us due to our pro-immigration focus.”
“Harsh rhetoric on immigration coupled with lack of adequate engagement with Latinos and race baiting by Democrats has resulted in very low GOP support among Latinos, and we ignore this at our own political peril.”

You’ve gotten the attention of Fox news, Bob.
Now, the Cafe Con Leche Republicans Blog Space – is playin’ ball with the Big guys !!!!!
Congratulations, Bob !!!
Thanks, actually we’ve been followed by Fox News since early this year, when a Mississippi Democratic legislator introduced a bill to rename the “Gulf of Mexico” the “Gulf of America.” There’s a category “in the news” on our web site with selected quotes from news media stories.
READ BELOW FOR THE REAL REASON WHY A DEMOCRAT WOULD WANT TO PASS SUCH A SILLY AND STUPID BILL.
Mississippi state Rep Steve Holland wants to reclaim the Gulf of Mexico from the Mexicans. A better name, he says, is the Gulf of America.
Sound ridiculous? Holland, a Democrat, says it’s no more ridiculous than the political agenda of the Republicans who recently took control the state legislature.
The funeral home director from a small town outside Tupelo submitted a bill that would change the name of the the gulf ‘for all official purposes within the state of Mississippi.’
‘I didn’t do it to be funny but more so to give a parallel of how insignificant are the issues that this far right crowd is pushing as their primary agenda,’ Holland, a 29-year veteran of the state capitol, told the Mail Online.
Holland says he’s furious about bills that would install stiff anti-immigration restrictions like those in neighboring Alabama, which require immigrants to provide proof of legal residency to attend public school or when stopped by police.

We blasted Steve Holland when he proposed his ridiculous bill, and once Fox News Latino and the AP reported it that went viral, with hundreds of newspaper stories. The idiot still didn’t withdraw his bill, but since he wasn’t running for reelection the voters of his district did not have the opportunity to hold him accountable.
Ah carlito – IF you go back and look at the original thread within the Cafe Con Leche Republicans Blog Space – http://cafeconlecherepublicans.com/gulf-of-america-mississippi-bill-would-rename-gulf – you WILL notice, carlito – that TWO out the the orignal THREE comments (with the 3rd dated 5/17/12) deal with RENAMING the Mississippi River to – BOB !!!!!!
Taking the gest of the 3rd comment indicates – that the COOL – thing about a Rive named – BOB – is that you can spell and pronounce the puppy – right to left – or left to right – and it will STILL be the same river !!!!! NOW that I look at the puppy in ALL CAPS – the river BOB – may even be the SAME river – even when it’s up-side down !!!!
That’s WAY COOL !!!!!
The fact are although I’m Catholic and tend to identify myself as conservative(abortion, gun right,Et cetera)I have strong reservation in supporting any Republican candidate for the presidency. What would it take for Republicans to understand that enacting Jim Crow laws against Hispanic is wrong and quite frankly distasteful to a large majority of Americans. Indeed I’m legal, one hundred percent legal, legal to be here and legal to enjoy life like any other American.Do you know what I look like?
I understand where you’re coming from, carlito, even though your mixed metaphor of “enacting Jim Crow laws against Hispanic[s]” – is not quite the correct mixed metaphor to use. The issue, carlito, as to why this mixed metaphor is not correct – is a long and involved issue – but the IMPORTANT take away message from your comment – is that you don’t personally like – and you believe that NO HISPANIC likes – to be treated as a second-class person – IS THE IMPORTANT MESSAGE of your comment.
I agree with your thoughts and feelings on this, carlito – and I strongly encourage you to EXPRESS YOUR feelings and thoughts – throughout the entire Cafe Con Leche Republicans Blog Space.
Thanks, carlito, for your comments !!!!!!!
As one Proud American to another Proud American, carlito, I value your thoughts and feelings !!!!!
Thank you for your kind message. I commend your website for trying to bring to light the lack of support from Hispanics in the Republican party in your blog. What the Republican party needs to do is go back to the principles of one of its great founder(Abraham Lincoln) Unless we see concrete changes within their current philosophy towards Hispanics. Like “bad-mouth·ing illegals”which affects morally or otherwise a huge block of Hispanic on this great country.
Kind regards,
Carlito in Denver,Colorado
It’s interesting that you mentioned Lincoln, who had to deal with Nativists in the GOP as well. Lincoln very adroitly went around the fragments of the “know nothing” Nativist party that joined the GOP, by recruiting a leading German immigrant, Karl Shurz, to lead an outreach effort. Lincoln even purchased a German language newspaper to help in this outreach. Lincoln basically outmaneuvered the “know nothings”!
Prior to Lincoln, German immigrants had generally voted Democrat, and rarely if ever heard from the Whig Party, the predecessor of the Republican Party. Lincoln won both elections in large measure with the help of the German vote! Let’s see if our next GOP candidate can channel George Bush and Lincoln to win!
Here’s an interesting article from the Washington post today – http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/toles?wpisrc=nl_opinions!!!!
The thrust of the article – including actual statistics – IS that it was ONLY Republican gerrymandered – that allowed the Republicans to hang on to the Congressional House during this last election!!!!!
