Berwyn, IL – Illinois’ 42nd State Senate District is suffering, and sadly, the political leadership of the District has been anything but responsive to these problems. Senator Linda Holmes (D) has been a voice for the “Springfield status quo” for nearly 6 years – a rubber stamp for Governor Pat Quinn and ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich. She voted for Governor Quinn’s 67% income tax increase, opposed school choice legislation, and resisted efforts to reform the state’s pension system.
In contrast, Republican State Senate Candidate Peter Hurtado is ready and willing to fight for the 42nd District. His record of service to his community demonstrates a firm commitment to his constituents; he stands for conservative values of lower taxes, a stronger economy, and opportunity for all. He will work to repeal Governor Quinn’s income tax increase and will support efforts to enact genuine pension reform.
Peter also has a firm understanding of immigration issues. He opposes “sb1070-style” legislation, supports the Illinois Dream Act, and opposes mandatory E-verify legislation. Illinois Residents can rest assured that Peter will be a public servant for the 42nd District.
